February is the month we celebrate love, any kind, and of corse self care is the most important one. We take care of our own body throughout good food, exercise, skin care, personal style and interests.

It is a way to relieve everyday stress too and here comes the idea of this post about DIY body scrubs, a good way to treat ourself!

Body scrubs mainly work to exfoliate the skin and help shed dead skin cells, revealing smooth, glowing skin. Skin that’s been properly exfoliated soaks up moisture more efficiently.

DIY Sugar Scrub

  1. In a medium bowl, mix 1 cup of sugar  of choice (pure cane, brown cane, Demerara) with ½ cup of coconut oil.
  2. Stir in lavender, rose petals, 1 tsp vanilla extract or essential oils as desired.
  3. Fill a glass pot to keep in your shower and use as desired!

DIY Himalayan Salt Scrub

  1. In a medium bowl, mix 1 cup of Himalayan Salt with 1/2 cup of coconut oil (you can choose from different skin-friendly oils like apricot, jojoba, coconut, argan, hazelnut, olive, walnut).
  2. Stir in rosemary, rose petals and a few drops of  your favourite essential oil.
  3. Fill a glass pot to keep in your shower and use as desired!

Need a face scrub? Process salt in a spice grinder first. Finely ground salt is ideal in a facial scrub.

How to use the scrubs?

At the end of showering, it’s best to pat the skin dry a bit and then rub in circular motions all over the body and rinse well. It works best after soaking in the tub for at least 20 minutes. This will really loosen the skin making the scrub work at its best leaving your skin soft and supple!

Can be used 2 – 4 times a week (depending on the sugar type).
